I hate when liberals treat suburban food like its cat food.  Yes, maybe Taco Bell is, but there are plenty of good restuarants in the suburbs that compete with restuarants in world-class cities.  World class suburbs like Schaumburg IL, Orange County CA, Tysons Corner VA, Oakland County MI, Fort Lauderdale FL, Arlington TX, Bloomington MN, Bellevue WA, Scottsdale AZ, and so forth are almost cities themselves and offer a great variety of entertainment, food (ethnic & chain), recreation, lodging, shopping, and more in a classy atmosphere.  The buildings may be 300 ft. instead of 1000 ft. and the lack of mass transit may exist but these "edge cities" are havens for suburbanites and tourists alike.  They are simply smaller versions of the urban downtowns.  Everything in the suburbs is not a McDonalds and Wal Mart off the highway.

The only decent restaurants in this area are within a few blocks of each other in downtown Harrisburg in the restaurant/club district.

Otherwise it's just Applebees and Ruby Tuesdays.
Harrisburg is nowhere near major enough to have any serious subcentres in its suburbia.

And as per catfood - hey, it's not that bad. Ever try? Smiley

Bush got 15% in San Francisco.

Are these people openly Republican, or do they keep it to themselves?
They probably keep it to themselves.  It is amazing how violent peace-loving Democrats can get when you vote against them.

If you voted for Bush you have a good reason to be ashamed of it.
You ignored my statement.

Funny I should see this topic Smiley I live in San Francisco, and I voted Republican.

In terms of flaunting my vote, I did stay pretty quiet the day after the election. I'm actually currently attending a community college in San Francisco, and it was pretty quiet on campus on the election. Some guy I don't even know just went up to me and said something like "Man, Bush really ****ed it up", then asked me who I voted for. I just shrugged and said nobody. Maybe I'm a wussie but I didn't feel like arguing with people immediatly after the elections when tensions were still a little high. As I was leaving school, I overheard a girl talking on her cellphone say something like "he could still be impeached, or maybe assassinated", I guess she was assessing the chances of Bush not serving despite the election results.

In terms of violent liberals, it's not really a problem unless you're dealing with the far left. I know the San Francisco State University College Republicans had some problems:

(this comes from a conservative newspaper, but it's the only article I've found that has media and quotations from the police report)

Aside from that, the only other far left violence I've seen is against the counter-protesters of the website www.ProtestWarrior.com. I assume they probably had something scheduled around election time.

^I knew it.

Suburban food isn't that bad, but how some people can go to the drive through every day and order fattening meals that get disgusting if you eat them more than once every 6 months (in my opinion) while they sit there becoming gigantic sacks of lard is hard to understand.

I strongly dislike McDonalds though. I haven't eaten there in years and I'm not sure I ever will again.

I actually came out during a church meeting.

I was making a presentation and I said:

"I have an announcement that I'd like to make before I start.

"I feel that it is important that the biases of the speaker be known prior to this presentation.  I therefore think it's time for me to come out from the closet.

"I am a ... Conservative Republican."

Hey, I like Taco Bell. Smiley

At any rate, yeah, I agree with you.  There are plenty of good restaurants in the suburbs that I live in.

Plus, I usually like fast food, and we have a lot of that, too. Wink
