Was I the only one who heard Paul quip: "You're not going to be president forever" To Herman at the end...

Yes Santorum, EXPLODE the federal government.
Ironically, he supports the Federal Ban on Gay Marridge.

I think Herman Cain was just a big Square One TV fan back in the 90s.

summarizing who asked what in first round
Bachmann   Perry - Gore support/TX debt
Cain      Romney - 57 point plan not simple
Gingrich   Romney - Middle class tax cuts
Huntsman   Romney - Bain Capital firings
Paul      Cain - Auditing Fed
Perry      Romney - Romneycare=Obamacare
Romney      Bachmann - jobs plan
Santorum   Cain - TARP/999

Better summary:

Romney:  Which one of you bitches want to be my VP.

Cain:  Not so fast, Mister Fifty-Nine Points.

Best guess: Romney serves up a softball to Bachmann to give her another chance to pull some votes away from Cain, leaving Romney to win Iowa.
Exactly. Romney needs all the others to stay in it as long as possible, but without any one of them getting to big.

Perry's strategy: stay on point and don't get flapped.

Not brilliant, but serviceable. Would have worked much better if he'd played it that way from the start.

Perry is taking a page out of Cain's playbook by emphasizing a single issue over and over again- domestic energy.

If Perry had this generic not blowout but not stumbling performance in the other debates he would still be frontrunner

The way Perry pronounced Martinez. Subtle cue to Hispanic voters, but anti-immigration voters from the interior states may have heard it too.
