Seems the likeliest scenario in the race for Ross' open seat. Cotton picked up a RedState endorsement today, raised $340k in the last quarter. Halter isn't in yet but sources say he's likely to run.

I personally prefer Rankin because she already has name recognition in the district.

You want someone who managed to lose by nearly 20 in a GOP wave year? OK then.

GE: Sabato has it as Lean R, and I agree with him. This will be a race garnering national grassroots attention in both parties.

She was up against a popular incumbent.

Wouldn't Halter be running the 2nd?

He lives in the 2nd, so it would seem logical for him to run there, IMO.

In the runoff, he did do the best in the 4th district, but I don't think he actually won it.

Are there any Arkansans here who can confirm whether Halter's running in the 2nd or 4th?

Attacking someone on one of their strongest suits is generally a bad idea. Personally I can't wait for the all-candidates' debates.

More favorable press for Cotton. Primary is set for May 22.

It's very much Lean GOP.  This is an R +7 district.  Ross was just very popular which is why the Democrats have managed to hold on to the seat, but just like the rest of the south they are losing ground in Arkansas.

Cotton has a massive $ lead while tied with Rankin at 39%.
