Senator James Hetfield (R-CA)/Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) 462 EV, 59.6% PV
Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY)/Governor Deval Patrick (D-MA) 76 EV, 40.4% PV
James Hetfield, former lead vocalist of Metallica, who had been elected to Senate in 1998, beating out Barbara Boxer by 57-41 margin, won the Republican nomination over congresswoman Michelle Bachmann and governor Rick Perry. To balance the ticket, he selected Conservative-Libertarian senator Rand Paul of Kentucky. The Porgramme included:
Return to the gold standard
Audit the Fed
Balanced budget Amendment
Flat tax system
Strong national defense
Governor Cuomo barely won the Democratic nomination, beating gov. Deval Patrick and later selecting him as his running-mate.
