one from options 1-4 for your view on the death penalty as is, and one from options 5-9 for the situation in your state.

I vote options 4 and 8.

Options 3, 4, and 6, but I would replace it with hard labor.

I missed 4 accidently. One thing I don't like about these polls is that it gives you a percentage of the total "votes," counting each option someone picks as a vote. I'd like to get a percentage based off the total number of people who voted.

you can only choose 2 options anyway, and yes, I agree with that about these polls.

2 and 5, at least until prisoners are forced to do hard labor or the like.

It should be abolished, too much chance of an innocent person losing their life.

The only case where I would agree with it is if there was indisputible evidence and/ or a confession, and the family of the victim requests the person to be put to death if that's means closure to them.

4,6

I'm not a militant against the death penalty.  I'm just uncomfortable with state-sanctioned killing, as I've said before.

I'm okay with state-sanctioned killing, but I don't want innocent people being put to death.

Jury kiddo, jury.  That ain't state-sanctioned.

I'd like to see death penalty options for all first degree murders, kidnappings, and rapes.

I like the hard labor option as a way of competiting with China for cheap, free labor.  Maybe you should let companies pay the State to hire them?  I don't want States to engage in business.

Give the option of death or hard labor to the victim first, or if he/she isn't there, the immediate family.  If they request death, then so be it.  If they choose not to request death, give the option to the convicted criminal.  Give him the ability to choose death anytime while he is serving as a laborer.  That way if he wants to die, he can.

I don't get how you differ the judicial process from the state.  It's not like a jury can just get together and dish out the death penalty.  The State decides what you die for, provides the processes and whatnot to determine if you will die in that individual circumstance, and the state carries it out. Sure, a senator doesn't order you to be killed, however I still view it as state-sponsored killing.   Which I'm uncomfortable with.

At best it's a technicality. Wink

The State is a neutral party.  They're not sponsoring anything, unless the defendent dismisses the jury.

You can't.  It is a State's right.  Do you propose an amendment?

So you want the government to legislate away and restrict jury rights?

Jury rights? That's certainly a new one. What precedent do you have to support this?

The Supreme Court should just make sh*t up? That's a ridiculous answer.

3 and 6.

The death penalty is acceptable in the cases of most serious crimes like terrorism, genocide and killing of children.
