Both counties elect their entire legislatures this coming Tuesday, with 19 seats up in Nassau and 18 in Suffolk County.  Right now, the Nassau Legislature is 11 R, 8 D.  Suffolk County is 12 D, I, WF and 6 R.

Wow, I started a topic with apparently underwhelming appeal!

There were a few very tight races and some seats changed hands but I think the distribution remained unchanged in both Nassau and Suffolk.

In Nassau Republicans are ahead by a few dosen votes in two districts, so there are recounts.

Suffolk also had  County Exec race as Democrat turned Republican Exec Steve Levy decided not to seek reelection amid a campaign finance probe.   Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Belleone won over Republican Angie Carpenter by 14 points.

The Suffolk Legislature had several open seats due to term limits, but it stayed the same at 12-6 Democratic advantage.

In Nassau the Legislature was 11-8 GOP.  The Dems knocked off John Ciotti in the 3rd, the GOP currently holds a 37 vote edge in the 18th (a previous Democratic seat, which was the only open seat) and currently hold a 51 vote lead in the 14th (my district).  If it holds it will remain 11-8 GOP with the 3rd and 18th flips cancelling each other out, but with the very tight margins both the 14th and 18th will be headed for a recount and absentee votes, so it will likely be a few weeks before who controls the Legislature is known/
