Hard to tell. They have canyons and beaches. Blizzards and tornadoes. I'll say mid-atlantic, just to be a homer (hee hee)

The show makes clear they live in Springfield.  No idea which state, but I always assumed it was Illinois.

It's not in any state, but if it was, it would be Oregon.  Matt Groening is from Oregon, his dad is named Homer, his mom Marge, his grand pa is Abe.  Clearly Matt=Bart.

They exist an alternate universe where America is a single nation without states, only administrative provinces. And, you know, people are all yellow.

Didn't they have a contest back when the movie was coming out to determine which state the Simpsons were in? I was rooting for IL since my Dad came from Springfield (and now we live in Springfield Township, and I'm pretty sure he lived in some other Springfield).

Ignoring all those times they went to other states.  Like that one time they went to the 5 corners.

Where is that? All I know of is the four corners (UT, CO, AZ, NM). Is there an actual five corners?

That seems plausible. Oregon has mountains and a sea shore, tornadoes and blizzards.

No, just another joke.  There was another time where they took an exit off of the freeway and the sign said something like "Exit here for Maine, Kentucky, Arizona and Idaho".

They unofficially live in North Takoma.  The state abbreviations used in the show are NT and TA.  We do know that their state borders Ohio, Nevada, Maine and Kentucky.  You guys are seriously lacking on your Simpsons trivia.

Yeah, and I think Vermont won. It should have been Illinois.

Where would you allocate "North Takoma"?

Oregon doesn't have tornadoes.

Yeah, Oregon might have fewer tornadoes than any other state.

IIRC only in one episode of the Simpsons swept across Springfield (and fortunately destroyed Flander's house. Cheesy  )

PS: Your post was just one of your numerous attempts to make me look dumb. Congrats!...

The state with the smallest average is Alaska with 0/year (only 2 since 1950).  In second place is Rhode Island with 0.23/year.  Then in 3rd is CT, DE, HI, NV, OR, VT, and WA.  But, in terms of per 10,000 squre miles, it goes, Alaska, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, with no ties.

Interesting as well, Delaware, with its average of 1 tornado per year ranks 43rd in terms of equalizing the square milage, with 5.18 per 10,000 square miles.

Being from Oklahoma, whenever I think of Springfield, I always think of Missouri.  Although, it clearly is not the case in the Simpsons world.

Without cheating, who knows the state with the highest average of tornadoes per 10,000 squre miles?
