During WW2 America was attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. Some could have claimed that we should have never gone into Germany because they were not involved in Pearl Harbor and not part of the "greater war on facism". But we did go after Germany and it ended up being one of the BIGGEST theatres of that war. Were we wrong in doing it? No. Are we wrong for liberating Iraq? No.

Germany declared war on the US, an often forgotten fact. And  it's not much of a paralell really...Germany was much more of a threat, both in the military and idelogical sense than Japan. Also, the allies agreed to a Germany first policy as the best strategy.

The Thai government - and particularly the military - knows exactly how to deal with the Muslim problem in the South.  Thais basically deal with social problems by shooting first and asking questions never.

Its a wonderful country - both tolerant and ruthless.  They let you do whatever you want, until you cross the line of threatening society or security, and then they just slaughter you.  This works on a personal level to - Thais are calm, polite, will put up with a lot, but if you humiliate someone or cause him/her to loose face badly - you may be killed or beaten severely.
