I am going to add 4 big firsts to my life tomorrow.  First off, I have never before been west of I-25.  I will do just that tomorrow morning.  Secondly, I'm going to add 3 new states to my have been in list.  Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho.  Idaho is only 57 miles north of Ogden, so I'm going to drive up and touch the southeastern corner of Idaho on I-15, by going up and back down.  It should only add an additional hour and 45 minutes to my trip.  So, I am going to leave earlier than I had planned, around 5:00 MDT.

You're truly a bizarre individual.

I wish I'd have asked about your itinerary so I'd have known you were going through Salina, KS. I'm only about an hour from Salina and would have met you there to wish you luck. If you're ever driving back the same way, you'll have to let me know.

On the other hand, that part of the world is very pretty. I certainly enjoyed my time there.

Not if he has a goal of getting to all of the states or something like that.  That's something a fair amount of people do.

^ Still, I wouldn't add over an hour and a half to my drive, to just go through part of Idaho. If I lived 50 miles from it, I would just wait and on a day off, go visit the state.

Yes, indeed!  I have arrived in Ogden, Utah and I did not go to Idaho this afternoon.  I was too pooped after 20 hours driving over two days.  I'm piece mealing my luggage and other personal belongings in.  I'll save Idaho for another day.  When I do, I may get into Montana, as well, to kill two birds with one stone.  Another day, I will get into Nevada for my first ever visit to the Pacific Time Zone!  California is too far to visit on a "joy" ride and so is Oregon.

While I was on the road in Southern Wyoming, my boss called me and wants to meet up for lunch tomorrow at 1:00 pm in Salt Lake City!

If you're going to go to Montana, make it a trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Grand Teton National Park in particular is one of my favorite places in the world, and the drive from Utah to Yellowstone takes you through eastern Idaho, which is beautiful.

I will definitely be going to Yellowstone!  I've got a lot to sight see!

I have a gorgeous view outside my window.  I am on the 4th floor of my hotel facing east which gives me a very picturesque view of the High Uinta Mountains which are part of the Wasatch Mountain Range!

Out of curiosity, how are you managing the hotel bill? I can't imagine that it's cheap, even for a long-term stay. I'd think a month-to-month apartment lease would be significantly cheaper.

Feel free to post pictures from your hotel room... I love seeing the mountains in that area.  It's such a pretty area of the U.S.

I imagine it's the normal answer?

While I was on the road in Southern Wyoming, my boss called me and wants to meet up for lunch tomorrow at 1:00 pm in Salt Lake City!

By "my boss called me," is this a way to refer to God speaking to you in a way that someone might "accidentally" misinterpret as referring to the private job which is putatively the cause for this trip?

Or am I being too cynical?

No, it's just the boss wanting to meet me before I start on Monday for the sole purpose of putting a face with a name for both of us.
