The fact that your final destination is outside the U.s. isn't really relevant, you're still leaving on a domestic flight the same way anyone else stopping in Minneapolis is.

I used to think that too, until I flew long-haul international for the first time and had the check-in attendant yell at me for showing up late for the domestic leg of the flight.  Apparently it does make a difference, and you still have to show up 2 hours before.

I've checked in even 40 minutes before once. An hour before is totally normal between St. Louis and Europe (Always first having a domestic flight), but then again, maybe in Bushie's case, being his first time, and the fact that he won't listen to anyone with a reasonable time Wink, he should get there earlier.

I like to get to the airport and have plenty of time to check-in, get through security, relax, and maybe get a bite to eat before I board.

Now that you mention it: I'm just now sitting at a departure gate in Frankfurt, ready to board for Newark. Got to the airport about 2 hours early (not intentional, just worked out that way), and it's totally empty here. This could be a pleasent flight...

I am now 63 days from Kenya, not including today. 9 weeks from tomorrow, I will be leaving for the East African Nation.  I am sitting just under 269.0 on my weight this morning.

I talked to our main trip organizer this morning at 10:30, and she said they are purchasing the plane tickets today.  She said the times could change slightly from what we were given Tuesday evening, but the dates would remain the same.  I will post the new itinerary if the times do change.  I should receive the finalized itinerary by the end of the night tonight.

$9.25 for a big beer at Newark airport?? Now that's a good reason not to be waiting at the airport too long... Unfortunate that my flight to STL is 90 min. late.

We are still waiting to see if he gets hired full time. I bet you it's going to be a season ending cliff hanger.

How will he get hired full time if he's taking an extended break to dance with the natives in the jungles of Kenya?

They have been dropping hints along the way the past two or three weeks.  They are waiting for the customer my team services to extend the contract for 3 more years. They are going to meet, and presumably finalize the deal tomorrow, so I should have an answer by next week and have been told I should have a start date by the end of the month effective sometime in March.  My supervisor said he will work around my Kenya trip.

You'll be grateful for Brussels in place of London, at least.

Another question for the European airports.  Both Netherlands and Belgium are Dutch speaking countries.  What language will they speak at the airport to announce the start of the boarding process and any flight updates?

I thought they would, but I wasn't sure since they are in Dutch-speaking countries.

It would be one of those documentaries where people wouldn't be sure if it was a mockumentary.

About mid-week last week, I received word that I could be on permanent as early as Monday, January 23.  My permanent position is guaranteed, but I am able to apply for 2 other positions, one of which should start January 23.  The employee who is leaving this spot vacant is leaving on January 20.  So, I have an opportunity at 4 different positions, with only 2 applications.  I have my permanent position that would come by late February or March, then an application for slightly different work than what I'm doing now, and another application for 2 open positions at a little higher pay grade.  Things are really going to be changing quite a bit in the next few weeks which will set us up for a very busy period that will start probably March or April 2012 and continue easily into the late Spring or Summer of 2013.  My work schedule will also be changing sometime this next week probably taking effect the beginning of the next Dell work week which is Saturday, January 21.  The schedule will, in all likelihood, go back to a normal Monday-Friday work week, but the hours could very possibly change to 5:00 am - 2:00 pm.

The assistant of my main trip organizer, who purchased the tickets for us, emailed the team today and said the e-tickets are ready to view and print.  However, for some reason the computer had a glitch and spelled by name wrong on the e-ticket.  Her travel agent is working to correct that, but it will probably be this week before it is corrected to where I can print mine out.   I can view mine now, (or when I get home this evening), and I can print out the official travel itinerary, but I will have to wait until she emails me back to print the e-ticket out.

As an aside, my grandmother has offered to keep my cat while I'm gone.  So, he will be well taken care of.  I'll drop him off the Wednesday before I go and pick him up the Tuesday or Wednesday evening after I get back.  He'll be with her for about two weeks.

Spreading Christianity to uncultured peoples.  Surprised this still goes on.  A trip to Viking Resort in the Dominican Republic would be so much more worth your while Bushie.  Just tell everyone you're going to Africa for "missionary work" then use the money to have a good time!
