Why would they send you a job offer in the middle of the night based on assumptions you yourself made? Are you just psyching yourself out tonight in preparation?

Yeah, and I forgot to ask, when you went on this "interview", did you remind them of your upcoming trip?

They won't give me an offer in the middle of the night, but they would give it to me during HR business hours (8-5), but the first time I could report back to you would be in the evening.

Why wouldn't they call you in to personally tell you yes or no.......an email?

He submits the information to HR and Talent Acquisitions is the one who emails the job offer.  My manager can, and probably will, tell me in person as well, but the official job offer document will have to be returned before the transition can officially begin, anyway, so why not do it very first thing and get it out of the way?

No news today.  He still has two more interviews to take care of, but I should know something tomorrow or Thursday.

I had a pretty good day at work.  I didn't hear any news today, but I did speak with my manager and he has two more interviews and will finish those up tomorrow.  He couldn't go further than that to be fair to the other two candidates.  He will be making his decision either tomorrow afternoon or Thursday.  All the signs I'm seeing are positive and I am still very confident in my interview last Friday and because of that, I am very positive in my chances.  The biggest sign I saw was yesterday, which I've already mentioned when he was sorting through the first 7 interviews.  I feel very good about this and I will probably have a hard time sleeping tonight, just because I want to get off these pins and needles, but the last remaining traces of doubt are starting to fade into the sunset.

I was able to sleep pretty well for 8 hours this morning, so I feel rested. Again, my supervisor has two final interviews to do, and he told me last night he will do them today and then he should make a decision either this afternoon or tomorrow.  As of right now, my doubts have been nearly erased.  I still feel very confident.  All the signs that I have been seeing this week are all positive.  I'm seeing no negative signs right now.  Even if he doesn't make a decision today, he may be able to drop a hint after the interviews are complete.  They should be complete by 11:30 or 1:30, depending on what times they were scheduled for.

This is great. The writers have set up such a cliffhanger that I literally wet myself every time I see BushOK has replied to this thread. I'm sure The Decision will be drawn out for the rest of the week, so I packed some extra underwear!

Smart move, because he is probably going to get an answer today, if not today than definitely tomorrow. If not tomorrow, it will be for sure on Friday. If it doesn't come in on Friday, he should hear something no later than Sunday morning, but he won't be able to check it until Monday.

Yes, my friends, Franzl is correct! I do have the job. I'm not starting until Monday, May 7, 2012, because the freeze is being moved up.  I don't know the rate of pay just yet, but I will find that out in April after the freeze lifts.  While I have this job as a cushion, there is also room to get an even better job within Dell in April after the freeze does lift.  Just because I have this job on May 7 doesn't mean I can't go higher.  I just can't lose this job unless I have a better job.

Thanks, jmf.  Now, I can focus on my ministry in Kenya without having to worry about a job back home.  This is a major blessing and gets me off the pins and needles and back into a softer chair.  By starting on May 7, I will be able to start using my benefits by June 1, if not slightly before whenever I get the insurance cards.  Now, the date could change a little bit based on the needs of the business, but the job is guaranteed, but most likely will stay on May 7.

This would have made for a brilliant Intrade contract. "BushOklahoma to be offered permanent job on or before March 31, 2012".

Wonder what it would have been trading at the last few days Smiley

what's more with this revelation that I do have this job. I've already said I can still move up and get a better job before this one starts, and my manager is going to personally recommend me to other managers around this building, from the Boeing and Xcel Energy accounts to the ADT account to the US Army.  He wants me to stay with him, but more than that, he wants me to succeed and move up as fast as I can.  Once the job starts, I'm settled in for one calendar year before I can apply elsewhere, but before that, I can still apply and get on a little quicker.  It's nice to know that my manager, the man I'm going to work for, is more concerned about my career getting started on the right foot than he is about the accounts for which he is the manager.  I have got an awesome manager.  He is very well liked and very well respected within the Company, so his recommendation will mean a bunch to me.  He is going to do everything he can to get me up on a higher rung on the ladder, but if he can't, then I've got a fallback job with him.

Now that I have a job, and now that it is March 1 in Oklahoma, it is time to focus my attention on my trip to Africa in just 15 days.  I can focus on the preparation for this trip, and the ministry within the trip with pure enjoyment and an attitude of servitude without having to worry about a job back home.  I am blessed.  This month of March will be all about Kenya.

I have a feeling Kenya will play a big role this season. Perhaps job troubled are a thing of past seasons.

Here is a weight loss update.  As of this morning, i have now lost 23.6 pounds, down to a weight of 261.4.  That is, of course, since Monday, November 14, 2011.  I found I just don't eat as much during the work week.

Another job update:  My manager is not wasting any time in making good on his promise in personally referring me to other managers.  Today, he talked with the manager of a big and very important account in the building and referred my name to her to pass on to her hiring manager.  I still have this job to fall back on, but it's beginning to look more and more likely I won't have to fall back on it.
