So what if you don't end up going?  If you heard God physically tell you to go, and the direction of what you think he wants you to do, how will you justify it?

He'll say that God's instruction to move to Kenya was metaphorical or something.  Either that, or he couldn't quite make out what God was saying because of the accent.

No offense Bushie, but given how many of your previous schemes fell apart, and how quickly you moved on, I'm estimating a <5% chance that a move to Kenya will ever happen.  And I predict that by the time it becomes obvious that the move isn't going to happen, you'll have largely lost interest in it anyway, and won't really care.  Just like you moved on from your last broken engagement without it seeming to phase you much.

In six months, I'm guessing that there'll be some new Update storyline that has nothing to do with Kenya.

That's pretty much the pattern for all his little plans, yes. And not his last engagement but all of them essentially.

bushie what ever happened to your plans to move to arizona or florida or some other horrible place?  marry some religious and have about 8 kids?  all of that sounds a lot more reasonable than moving to kenya chasing after some kids you send 10 bucks a  month to (who may not even being receiving it...)

Bushie, for once in your life, think with your brain.  Not your heart, not what you think God wants or tells you to do, but think with your very own brain and use the concept of rationale thought

I am thinking with my brain.  That's what people don't understand.  This forum thinks the ONLY rational decision is to stay in Oklahoma and not move a muscle.

No you aren't.  If you were thinking with your actual brain you wouldn't be going on about God told you this or God told you that.  Use your own brain, think rationally and keep God out of the question.

Also no one is suggesting you should stay in Oklahoma all your life.  If I was there I would sure as hell want out.  However, there is a major difference between moving on with your life, trying a different direction, etc and moving halfway across the Globe  It doesn't have to be Kenya or Oklahoma forever

If you expect me to leave God out of the equation, forget it.  He is my Rock and my Hiding Place.  He has brought me this far, I am not going to abandon Him now.

I'm not saying to abandon God I am saying to use your actual own brain rather than trying to be a mind reader of what you think God wants you to do.

I am going to Kenya.  There's almost no question about that now.

However, I am not going to go down there until I have employment locked down, housing secured, and transportation figured out.  Those are the three major factors that are the key to moving to Kenya or really moving anywhere, even if it's to another town in Oklahoma or the United States.

In the mean time, I've got work to do in Oklahoma before I leave.  I am working an hour overtime every day the next two weeks to study for my ITIL and Security+ Certification.  The ITIL exam is on Wednesday, 25 April 2012 at 10:45 and the Security+ exam is on Wednesday, 2 May 2012 at 11:00.  After that, I've got my GMAT exam for my MBA admission on Saturday, 19 May 2012 at 8:00 in Tulsa.

I've got a lot of exams in the next month.

Bushie,

Don't you have a history of going off half-cocked in some area of life you believe God is leading you into?  Have you had any stability in your Christian life over the last 5 years?  How can you say God is leading you when you haven't had success in YOUR own Christian life, much less the lives of others?

If your pastor knows your unsteady history as a Christian and is still behind this Kenya idea...let's just say you need to prove yourself (not only hold down a steady job, but excel at that job) over the next couple of years before you run off to Kenya.

I’d have much more confidence if you had a history of success instead of a history of constant upheaval.  In fact, I’d feel more comfortable with your idea if you were a brand new convert who had just come to Christ and had been given a commission.

The fact that your Pastor knows your unstable Christian history and is not showing restraint on this can only mean, at least to me, that he is a big source of your instability.

OK has always been an embarrassing neighbor for Texas...in fact, all of the adjacent entities (Mexico, NM, OK, AR, LA) are an embarrassment to Texas.  Tongue

I finished my first 9 hour work day today and have 9 more like days in the next two weeks.  It will be nice to get 5 hours overtime each of the next two weeks.  10 hours total on this pay period (the pay period just started Saturday, 21 April).

I am 124 hours from turning 30 years old and I am trying to get my house clean so I can start off my 4th decade with a clean house.  I've cleaned the kitchen so far tonight, and will finish it off through the evening and I'm doing my laundry.  I've been very busy the past two weekends so I've let the laundry pile up, so I've got several loads just in terms of sheer volume.  I'm going to do 3 loads tonight, which should get me nearly done.  If I can do two more loads tomorrow evening, I'll be fine.

Well those are at least part of a greater narrative of organizing himself, but this seems to have nothing to do with anything.

I hope you get it all done, Bushie. It would be quite the disaster to have an unclean house to start your 30s.  Don't let the next 124 hours pass you by.

Laundry planning was about 35% of the original Update. It's a recurring theme to underline the protagonist's obsessive personality. In a way it serves as an illustration to the audience that there really has been no progress or evolution whatsoever. Laundry is the final symbol of the Update's hopeless universe.

you sure know your Update...is there a term for those of you who know every angle of the Update(kinda like Treker is a term for those who follow Star Trek)?
