Re: Aaron Pena's clever switch to the Republicans and its implications for mapping.

He is retiring from the legislature after this session. After the courts corrected the maps, he was left without a viable path back to office.

It is interesting he decided simply to retiree instead of trying to win a more difficult district.  Even though Edwards was a U.S. Representative, Pena could have taken a page from his book and tried to be the guy who won in a district that was unfavorable to him, it could have turned him into a Hispanic GOP superstar in the state.
