2010

MacKay was a somewhat popular choice, and the Tories went up in the polls, and remained popular though the first set of election debates.

There would be two English and two French debates. The new Bloc leader refused to speak English in the English debate, and did very very poorly in the French debate. The problem was that the leader did indeed know English, but rather choose not to speak it. Needless to say, the Bloc was not very popular in this election.

The media decided that given his refusal to speak English, they would not permit him to take part of the second English debate. While this caused controversy, many liked the idea. To replace the time lost, the English debates would now have short "free for all" sessions between all 4 leaders.

The Debate would be crucial. The free-for-all sessions would be interesting, given that Vander Zalm, Layton, and Copps all are very "peppy", and the debate made MacKay look "wooden". Following the debate, the Tories would fall in the polls, and the Liberal resulting boost gave the party momentum. Copps would attempt to ride this to a majority.
