Santorum has a great narrative to use against Romney: he's the working class, cultural warrior running against the elitist, convictionless at best and liberal at worst, Mormon Romney. Santorum's skeletons could easily be spun into strengths.

I think he has a chance.

Why are some people claiming that Paul can win the delegates, even though he won't win the popular vote? Is that even possible? Apparently Paul supporters are sticking around to become delegates, while a lot of Romney and Santorum supporters were going home. Is it just wishful thinking?

Delegates, in Iowa at least, are awarded proportionally. Paul will win some of the delegates even though he didn't win overall.

Romney's running out of precincts...

Santorum: Hancock (1 precinct), Hardin (1 precinct), Keokuk (1 precinct)

Romney counties: Story (1 precinct), Clinton (1 precinct), Johnson (1 precinct)

Paul counties: Clayton (2 precincts)

What is so special about Rick in keeping and re-attracting manufacturing jobs to the US?  I don't recall him being a protectionist type per se (I won't vote for a protectionist, but then I won't vote for Rick anyway, but I digress). So what makes him special?

Considering where he's from, why is his position here surprising?

No, what is special about Rick's policy prescriptions? Mittens talks tough about China too (currency "manipulation"), although of course the US has very little bargaining power vis a vis China at the moment.

You are getting into details that most voters don't care about.  Just saying China would work for Mitt too if anyone believed him.

Even if there is a tie, would it matter, since none of the delegates are actually selected today?

One of Clayton's just came in, it looks like it was a wash between Santorum and Romney.

And thank you again for that speech, which helped remind me what a self-righteous theocrat with his own personal pipeline from God to the platform-writing committee you are and always have been.

God forbid someone be genuinely religious.  Roll Eyes  That means they think they have a "pipeline" to God.

Yes, Phil, someday after I've served a couple more years as deacon in my church, I'll hopefully get over this aversion to the "genuinely religious". Roll Eyes

If Santorum insists on wearing his religion on his sleeve in every politicking stump speech, let alone make it clear over the course of decades in politics he'd like to enact the editorial page of the Observatore Romano into law, then neither he nor his supporters have any room to bitch when someone calls him on it.

So essentially, it's within the margin of error of counting/voting errors.

Well then you, of all people, shouldn't be holier-than-thou and bash Santorum's religious nature.
