Massachusetts recently legalized casino gambling. The bulk of the opposition came from the left, on the grounds that the casinos would attach themselves like leeches to the local economies around them.

Liberals are obviously more anti-casino, conservatives are probably more likely to be philosophically opposed to strip clubs but liberals are far more likely to ban them (though both instances might be as much affluence as anti-gambling or second-wave feminist sentiment).

More anti casinos: conservatives for social reasons

Anti strip clubs: tie between social conservatives and feminists

Conservatives on both -  at least in the mid-atlantic region. (Though few liberal politicians are opennly pro-strip club either, so that's hard to judge) .

I'd say here more opposition to casinos in recent years comes from the left, but that has more to do with the fact that the GOP was promoting expanded gambling as a gimmicky alternative to raising taxes on the rich than any ideologoical opposition to gambling. Both Dayton and Emmer supported allowing more casinos, though in different locations (during the campaign Dayton supported a new casino in the airport.)

Strip clubs no contest, plenty of Republican suburbs and rural areas have heavily restricted or de facto banned them, the Minneapolis City Council is pretty much OK with them and DFL cities like Duluth and Albert Lea are quite OK with them as well.

Keep in mind that not all liberals are feminists and not all feminists are anti-strip club.

Conservatives are more anti-strip club but the anti-casino vote is mixed. At least around here there are a ton of liberals who are against gambling because they see it as a way for corporations to take advantage of people. But, then again, I live in Ohio.

It's the same here, but it's slightly more complicated than that, for reasons that BRTD articulated. Massachusetts is a de facto intraparty two-faction system between leftist and center-right Democrats and the people currently in charge of the commonwealth are the latter.

Wow, I just realized the OP was not BRTD. I just saw the red MN avatar and assumed it was him. And yes, I read some feminist blogs and there's a very clear split between those identified as liberal and those identified as radical. To radically oversimplify, the former appear to favor decriminalization of all sex work, while the latter see the sexualization of women as inherently oppressive.

Anti strip clubs: tie between social conservatives and feminists

Keep in mind that not all liberals are feminists and not all feminists are anti-strip club.

I agree with all of this. Basically, there are two determinents for opposition to strip clubs- absexuality and social conservativism.

Liberals are less likely to undergo a casino in their backyard then conservatives. Strip clubs, I guess the anti BRTDers is the answer with no particular ideology but mock anything BRTD likes.
