Alagoas: a trial after 13 years

After  13 years, former Congressman Talvane Albuquerque (PFL at crime time, but switched to PTN after being expelled) is under trial for ordering murder of Congresswoman Ceci Cunha (PSDB), along supposed executioners of plan. She was murdered along her husband, her  brother-in-law and mother-in-law of her sister, in December 16th of 1998. Crime was because he wanted to get a Congressional seat. Original plan was to murder Augusto Farias (then PPB, and now PTB), brother of PC Farias, famous for being mastermind of corruption scheme that involved President Collor, who was murdered in 1996 by his girlfriend. Farias was elected to Congress at same ticket of Talvane, but he didn’t go to certification ceremony. As Ceci went to event, she was followed by murderers and was shot at his brother-in-law home.

Can't we just get rid of Alagoas? And also southern Pará?

Albuquerque got 103 years and 4 months of prison, while another executioners got 105 years, Alecio Vasco got 87 years and 3 months and Mendonça Medeiros da Silva, the only who confessed to participate in murder, got 15 years and 7 months. Although felons can appeal in liberty, due to fears of escape by convicted, judge declared preventive prison to them. They'll appeal to Federal Court in Recife, Pernambuco. In Brazil, as convicted persons can serve at maximum 30 years, it's certain that Albuquerque wouldn't go to stay in jail for lifetime.
