Owing to a sheer lack of time on my part I feel it is necessary that I resign not only as PPT of the Senate, but as a Senator altogether. I simply do not have enough time at the moment with everything that is going on in my life to continue to be an effective PPT or Senator, it is for this reason that I hereby resign from both offices.

That's too bad, Senator. Since there is no set rule by the Constitution that requires a special election and JFK's term ends in about a month, I suggest we "bend the rules" a little and have the President of the Senate appoint an Interim Senator.

We have just lost the man who might be the greatest Senator in Atlasian history.

Let us bow our heads in silence and honor for John F. Kenendy, a great Atlasian.

Which Governor? District 5 covers two regions. I think the President of the Senate should appoint the replacement.

That's sad to hear...I would suggest that neither of the candidates for this seat be appointed, since it would give them an unfair advantage in the upcoming election. But that's just my opinion, of course...

You will be missed Senator JFK. You were the finest man, the finest Senator, and the finest politician in Atlasia.

Let's have a moment of silence for the former Senator.

Oh dear. Looks like Hughie v. King might be moved up a few weeks.

Since there is no set rule by the Constitution that requires a special election

Actually there is:
Article I, Section 6, Clause 2:
"...If any district Senate seat becomes vacant, a special election shall be held within one week to fill in the vacancy..."

There's no getting around these requirements in my opinion; You cannot just leave this open like we did with Steven since it leaves the Senate down to 9 Senators until 4th March, which is nearly 6 weeks. And there is certainly no way you can have "interim" appointments from anybody since Regional seats no longer exist and there certainly is no provision or precedent to have the VP appoint an interim.

If there we're going to have a special election for a mere six week term, I have some interest in the race.

Bye, JFK.  We'll miss you.

And we will have to have a special election.

Law does state that so there has to be one.
