This is just a little something that I've supported for awhile now; allowing the President and Vice President to more directly interact with the Senate, and have an unfiltered line to introduce their own executive agenda (something I think should be encouraged more) right into the Senate's que for consideration.

One of the biggest problems in Atlasia, I've always felt, is that our Presidents and Vice Presidents rarely ever introduce their own list of legislative goals. We elect pretty faces, and they sit comfortable in the Government board doing very little, delegating all their work to others. The lack of a direct line to the Senate floor encourages inactivity and gives any given Administration yet another reason to not actively propose things on their own.

To my knowledge, only a few Administrations have ever had formal legislative agendas. One of them (shameless plug) was the Purple State/Marokai Blue Administration, which sadly was not continued by succeeding Administrations.

I would hope that, with this small, and relatively uncontroversial addition, we would have Presidents and Vice Presidents that like, and run on actively proposing their own bills. Where, instead of vague promises and then a list of excuses once they're elected as to why they're not doing anything, we have tickets run on a list of legislative goals that they themselves will be active in pursuing and proposing themselves. I think most of us can agree that if that was the way of things, Presidential elections would be a little more interesting.

I think that a bill should be sponsored by a Senator. The current system works fine as is.

I think that a bill should be sponsored by a Senator. The current system works fine as is.

Yet, it doesn't. The system being sought to change is not the Senate itself, but rather the chronic inactivity of Presidential Administrations when it comes to legislative affairs. We'd be better off having a Parliamentary system where we elect a leader amongst ourselves, for all the good having Presidents seems to do. This Administration seems to take it's time in signing bills, let alone actively pursuing their own.

Even when Purple State and I proposed our own bills, from time to time our bills would be modified before they got to the floor on a Senator's whim, and if I recall correctly, in one or two cases, they were not introduced at all. Where is the harm, for all the potential benefit, in letting the Administration have a direct line?

I would've loved to hear more opinions on this, but sadly this clearly must be moved on now.

I'm hereby opening a final vote on this resolution. Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain.

Aye.

Please give it a chance.
