For Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

The scenario: Obama wins a second term against Mitt Romney and John Thune; Democrats hold the Senate with a net loss of one seat while gaining seats in but failing to take the house. The second term is marked by relatively stable recovery; Democrats were able to reduce the quota for the filibuster from 60 to 55, managing to pass the American Jobs act and the DREAM Act, among others. The 2014 midterms meant little--Democrats again suffered a net Senate loss of one (losing MT and SD while winning KY), while Republicans made small House gains; however, Democrats picked up gubernatorial seats in several Midwestern and Southern states. Unemployment is at 6.3% by November 2016, and the US is mostly out of Afghanistan other than training forces. Iran is still saber-rattling but hasn't tried anything yet.

Most Republicans are focused on maintaining economic growth through fiscally conservative policies, though individual platforms differ.

Bob McDonnell

But I'd consider Thune, and Christie too.

Chris Christie, by a mile. If Jon Huntsman runs, he'll be my first choice though.

After that, possibly Rand Paul or John Thune.

I would vote for Duncan Hunter- either the father or the son

I admit I don't know why everyone gets a rock for Christie...as a fat ass myself, that part does not bother me. But the man is too moderate for the Tea Party and is somewhat unprofessional. "Get the hell of the beach" does nto make someone qualified to be our chief diplomat not that I do not like a bombthrower

I think Allen West ought to be in talks as well

I feel like Bobby Jindal is one of the ones people would see running too.
