Does anyone know if Estelle Morris is standing down this year? If she is, do the LDs have a genuine chance of taking her seat, Birmingham Yardley?

1. Yes... she's standing down
2. Depends on the candidates. Probably though.

Estelle is standing down and John Hemmings the leader of the LDs on the City council is running, a dirty campaign is no doubt in the offing but I think Hemmings will win, In Hodge Hill Byrne is going to run away with it IMHO the man is really exceptionally hard working.

I see this as an almost certain gain for the Lib Dems.

Unless Hemming gets arrested for taking bribes or something (and I wouldn't rule that out...)

He should have won it in 92 and 01 if he wasn't so damn cocky
