The "it's legal" defense is helpful in a court of law, but not in politics.  Romney can't stay on the defense here, he needs to go on the offense if he is to have a chance of beating Obama in the fall. He has to be smart enough to know that and yet he is either unwilling or unable to do so.  The more I see of Romney, the more I become convinced he cannot beat Obama.

This race is reminding me more and more of 1948.  Not because Obama is a second Truman who will run against a do-nothing Congress.  That meme is old and overused.  Rather it is because Romney is a second Dewey.
