If the actual numbers are what PPP's final night was yesterday (40-26 for Newt), then it will be called pretty early.

Doesn't look like it. But we all should say it is so they'll change it.

Probably early, but not immediately would you say?

That'll be alright, still early, but still an hour and a half after the polls close.

I'll predict 7:45 PM ET for the call (although it will take much longer to call 3rd place).

I can't wait to watch Gingrich smash Romney's glass jaw tonight!

Does anybody think it would be hilarious if Santorum lost to Paul by an insanely small margin like in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Is he talking about ARG or PPP? Or leaked exit polling?

The exit polls never leak before 5pm anymore.  5pm is when the exit pollsters show their first wave results to the news media, and then shortly after 5 we start getting news stories like "14% of left-handed bankers supported Santorum".

Yesterday and today's actions by Romney's people suggest very strongly that he will lose South Carolina.  We shall see, of course.

At any rate, any Romney win will be viewed as extraordinary by the media, as will any Gingrich win of more than 10 points and over 40%.

High turnout in Greenville (full of crazy evangelicals) apparently, and a tornado watch in four moderate coastal counties (Richard, Barnwell, Orangeburg, Aiken).

Oh goody, South Carolinians may be watching their primary coverage from their storm cellars.
