Turnout seems to end up at 2008 levels:

ca. 450.000 voters

And because much more Independents voted this time, Republican turnout is actually down compared with 2008.

Looks like they changed the numbers: Looks more like 550-560.000 now.

At this point I'm betting Gingrich wins at least 6 CDs, and every county besides Charleston and Richland.

CALLED IT (assuming Beaufort doesn't go for Romney)

Romney might still win Beaufort County, which hasn't reported.  That was one of his and McCain's best counties in 2008.

White Independents in SC are not particularly Democratic-friendly, something we tend to forget.

How do we know these Indies are white ? Could be Dem-leaning Independents this time who vote in the GOP primary to elect the Newt.

Are they black (lol)?  Not many Hispanics in SC.  Go look up white people who identified as Independents in 2008 and the exit polls.

Newts offering compliments to his rivals. Santorum on Iran, Paul on the FED, and I forgot what he said about Mittens.

Newt praising everyone. You can imagine my response when he brought up Santorum. Chants of "VP" were awesome, too! Smiley

Hey, I think Newt at the end will fall below 40%! Tongue

The Pubs have a death wish in SC.  But Mitt needs to begin running more against Newt, and less against Obama, sad to say. And he needs to get his tax returns out, and find the right formula to deal with Bain more effectively, combining more detailed facts, with more passion, and in particular the suggestion that he would ever do anything unethical, and that the detailed record supports that, rather than rather diffidently dismissing it. And then the Cayman Islands thing. Oh God, a discussion of international taxation, the the policy reasons behind it. That should be fun to explain to the Pub masses - not. You know Mitt, the Torie types of the party are not typical Pubs these days at all. Sad, but true.
