according to wiki, the following are also related to Pocahontas:   Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, wife of Woodrow Wilson; George Wythe Randolph; Admiral Richard Byrd; Virginia Governor Harry Flood Byrd; fashion-designer and socialite Pauline de Rothschild; former First Lady Nancy Reagan; actor Glenn Strange; and astronomer and mathematician Percival Lowell.

can't get much more American than being related to Pocahontas!

During segregation, Virginia actually had the "Pocahontas exception" in statute.  You were not considered "nonwhite" if your nonwhite ancestor was Pocahontas.  The reason was that most of the First Families of Virginia were descendants of Pocahontas.

Charles City, VA, where Tyler lived, still has descendants of the original Amerindian population.  It is a majority black and about 50% of the African American children there can trace their ancestry to black soldiers from the Revolutionary War.

The current President General of Society of the Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge, who I know, is a descendant of several.  Tyler was her third great grandfather's next door (well next farm) neighbor and helped that ancestor get a pension for his services during the Revolution.
