You guys better defeat the primary system, we have IRV voting for a reason.

I will abolish IRV via Executive Order.

Ah yes, a slogan that disparages a fellow left-wing party (which I am trying to get to endorse your candidates) would be a splendid idea. Roll Eyes

There weren't even any Liberal candidates for Senate. It was entirely the fault of this party and its awful GOTV (February went much better than this), since I was mentally indisposed for a while and my proxies seem to have been nonexistent.

Cross-endorsing Napoleon increasingly strikes me as the wisest course of action but if we do that then we need to build up greater Senatorial and regional presence to avoid being marginalized or becoming the Liberals' slightly more economically populist ginger kid brother.

It is not the fault of your party.  I actually believe my party takes some responsibility for this because we have so many inactive members.  Of course, I notice that there are many inactive members in both parties at this time, and this isn't really something the chairs have control over.

But in all honesty, I don't believe the mere fact that the left is divided has anything to do with our poor performance tonight.  The problem is that more people are turning away from the game than joining it, so turnout is being suppressed.

Me and Cincinattus were talking on the IRC recently and were vaguely considering running a quixotic independent campaign (in my case as a fun way to retire Wink) for the Presidency. I don't know whether we're going through with it, but in the event that I do I'd put myself forward for the Labor endorsement while remaining an independent candidate.

PS: While I'm no longer affiliated with any political party or hold any political office, it's obvious where my sympathies lie - depending on whether Cinci & I run or not Napoleon will be getting either my first or second preference, and I'd strongly favour electing a left-wing President.

[/trial balloon]

A primary would also be very interesting. Wink

Did Snowy ever technically return to being Vice-Chair (or leave, for that matter)?

I don't think anybody's sure, although we do not have any Vice-Chair who isn't Snowy...
We have got to be the most internally dysfunctional party right now. We didn't even manage to run anyone for the Pacific governorship.

Nor the Whigs. Tongue

Was NVT's run orchestrated by you guys or did he just decide to do it? If the latter, then no one did.

I only PMed one person to ask them to run for it (Oakvale)- and he's not even a registered Liberal anymore.  I'm not sure if someone else asked him to, though.

Then may I have the honor of anointing the recent Pacific Gubernatorial Special Election the Alfred F. Jones Award for Lame Electioning?

Yeah. Tongue  And now that I think of it, neither party recruited a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, either.

Seeing as how the Oakvale/Cincinnatus ticket is slightly closer to the center than Napoleon/Kalwejt, implying that Napoleon voters are 'moderate heroes' doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Now, now, boys, let's not fight. We can tear each other apart after we're done with Clarence and Yelnoc.

I wasn't trying to fight, necessarily... just give an observation. Tongue

One thing you might want to consider is recruiting non-players to join and register in the Pacific Region.  I'm not even sure if the Pacific Legislature is filled due to the inactivity. :/

Isn't the Pacific Legislature universal?

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that.  It's still practically vacant in a sense, though. Tongue

The Pacific already has a Governor and a Lt. Governor, but it still needs someone to really spark activity there.  PMing non-players to promote the region would be a great way to start off.

Good thing I voted for endorsing Labor candidates...

(Because, of course, we can't have both parties anticipating bitter rivalries since one does not view the other as ideologically pure as they are.)
