Hope I can give a little speech tommorow. Any other speakers?

MasterSanders- could you expand upon this "Locke-Burke dinner" idea?

Locke gave us classical liberalism, promoted the idea of natural rights, and formulated the concept of the contract relationship between the people and government.

Burke gave us a love for tradition, and vehemently opposed the insanity of the French revolution, yet supported indivigual rights within the confines of the existing social structure (communitarianism?), and supported the American Whigs.

Both were key members of the Whig movement, and both were key in the intellectual development of modern day conservatism, particularly in America. I believe we should honor them for their contribution to our party's ideology.

I might speak.

I'd like to request a nomination for this party's endorsement, if I may. I've pledged lower income tax rates than my opponent. I've heard this party discussing game reform as an important issue and I'm confident others will vouch for me when I say that there is no one more dedicated to reforming and restoring the Northeast than I am.

I have enough experience to understand the unique values and culture of the region, and how to work with fellow Northeasterners to get things done.

I have enough ideas to keep the legislature busy and the game fun and active.

I also offer unity- a new style of politics focused on bringing the region together and pushing policies that make sense for all citizens, not just the rich.

I hope you find me worthy of consideration. If you have any questions I can gladly answer them and please feel free to read through my campaign thread for more details.

Napoleon- since this party is pro-life and believes those policies are best pushed at the regional level what is your opinion on abortion and if there was a bill passed by the legislature up there to ban abortion except in health, rape, or incest cases....would you sign it?

I can say this. I'm proudly pro-choice. There is no chance of a pro-life bill reaching my desk. If a candidate says they will criminalize abortion in the Northeast, that candidate is either lying or doesn't understand the region's political culture well enough. I hope that this is not a deal breaker for your endorsement because my reform ideas are revolutionary and no one who gets elected will be able to move abortion policy in your direction. It may not be what you want to hear, but it's the truth.

Napoleon- I appreciate your honesty and I respect you. With this and the anti-conscription bill- which I know doesnt affect regions but shows your ideolgoy- I think it is unlikely I will vote to endorse you. However I would like to compare these positions with your opponent who is a libertarian and for all I know might share the same views!

Do you wish the party to be abbreviated as "Whig" or "Comm" in the Census stats?

Whig; thank you.

I believe Napoleon can represent us well. There are battles in that region we simply won't be able to fight- and that is where we disagree. Where we agree, in terms of game reform and advancing the interests of communities there is common ground.

I would support this party endorsing Napoleon.

Could I be nominated for some menial position in the party leadership. I don't know if there are any elected offices I could run for. Perhaps something akin to a "platform coordinator," if such a job exists.

I first want to hear Jerseyrules and his stances. Napoleon is pretty far away from us politically.

I'm jerseyrules of the IFP and I'd greatly appreciate your endorsement for governor of the Northeast this election.  I'm strongly pro-capitalism, and I'm a strong advocate of civil liberties.  I'm opposed to outright repeal of the NE blue laws, and believe that individual communities should be able to decide their own rules regarding them.  I'm also greatly in favor of a balanced Budget, and keeping spending at or below inflation level.  I'm not a wingnut on abortion, though I believe that the morning after pill is a much preferable alternative to outright abortion, and especially partial-birth.  I would veto any cap-and-trade bill that crosses my desk, and I am adamantly opposed to it, though I am for private incentives for donations to green energy and wildlife preserves as an alternative.  While I'm against state income taxes on top of federal taxation, I believe my compromise bill with a maximum of 10% taxation is better than tax hikes proposed by the Speaker recently, some of which are well over 30%

Anyone sane prefers alternatives to abortion, whether out of conscience or concern for women's health. I'd like to point out that the Northeast already has a balanced budget requirement in the Constitution and all budgets under my administration will comply with that. Also, the Speaker is not your opponent Jerseyrules. You're up against my tax plan, which is superior for families.

But, would you hold spending at or below inflation without raising revenues to accomplish it?

I appreciate a good debate, and while the gentleman from Connecticut may have lost his way on certain issues, I believe he is entitled to his opinions Wink.  Btw, I have nothing against you, Napoleon, and I'm happy to be your opponent this election.
