Note: My birthday is on the 6th so I won't object if you'll dedicate the luncheon on 2pm to one Imperial Legislator Wink.

I second it.

Hey, that's Reagan's birthday (and Rick Astley's). Congratulations.

I wll go ahead and be the first one to get to business... I am nominating SimFan to be Chair of this party. He has worked hard to establish this as the leading conservative party on the board and I know he will continue to be a great leader. He underrstands that we need to be true to our beliefs and our values and that we shouldnt compromise these for political gain- he understands Revelation 3:15 which I believe is Scripture's message to politicains

I am proud to nominate SimFan for Chair

I second the motion.

Ballot of the First Whig-Communitarian Party Convention, 2011

Party name

[  ] Communitarian Party of Atlasia
[X] Whig Party of Atlasia
[  ] Write-in:

Party color
[ X ] Write-in: Royal Purple

I kind of like Whig-Communitarian, but I agree with Clarence on this one. But I think "Whig" serves as an appropriate name of a party whose platform weds tradition with classical liberalism.

Do you think we could have a "Locke-Burke" dinner, named after two political philosophers who have shaped our ideo

Hope I can give a little speech tommorow. Any other speakers?

MasterSanders- could you expand upon this "Locke-Burke dinner" idea?

Locke gave us classical liberalism, promoted the idea of natural rights, and formulated the concept of the contract relationship between the people and government.

Burke gave us a love for tradition, and vehemently opposed the insanity of the French revolution, yet supported indivigual rights within the confines of the existing social structure (communitarianism?), and supported the American Whigs.

Both were key members of the Whig movement, and both were key in the intellectual development of modern day conservatism, particularly in America. I believe we should honor them for their contribution to our party's ideology.

I might speak.

Could I be nominated for some menial position in the party leadership. I don't know if there are any elected offices I could run for. Perhaps something akin to a "platform coordinator," if such a job exists.

We're still voting on it, but that's the name that currently leads.

Not to be pushy, but will there be a "primary" or "convention" for who gets your nomination for NE governor?

I'd wait until we hear from SimFan.

I move that we end voting on party symbols, and begin voting on endorsements.

Emperor PiT has appointed me to fill a vacancy in the IDS Legislature. I have become the first Whig to assume office since the formation of this party.
