what's with the low participation?  certainly there are enough older members on this forum who have watched all three men over the decades.

I grew up watching Steve Irwin.  Crikey, how could I vote for anyone else with him in the poll?

I have good reasons to vote for each of them.  Perkins worked at my favorite zoo, the St.Louis Zoo (best free zoo in the world) and worked on the Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom tv show.  GWAR wrote a song about Jaques.  Steve Irwin is really the only one I've watched any of since I was a wee lad.  They've all done a lot for science.  Jaques probaby did the most "science", but the other two did a lot to introduce it to a new generation (not that Jaques didn't).  It's a tough call.

Because I was somewhat embarrassed by him... all of that BS about Australia that we'd tried to shake off was undone by him... testament being he wasn't really THAT popular here (general response was to cringe when he was on TV..) but it obviously changed a little after he died.

Yes, the stereotypes we get out of Australia are wrong, but, really, is there any place with better stereotypes than Australia?  Sure, you might not like cars, "barbie"d shrimp and have never said "g'day mate", but are they that bad?  Are there any negative stereotypes from down under?  Ya like to drink, that's probably a negative to some people.  Is it really that bad if we all think you're all like Steve Irwin, Crocodile Dundee and Men At Work?  Would you rather have the American stereotypes....or worse, one of the three or four European countries people actually know stereotypes about?  Ya don't have bad teeth like the Brits, ya don't try to take over Europe every other generation like the Germans, ya take baths unlike the rest of Europe.  Ya aren't rapping cowboys like Americans.  You guys are like the cool version of Canada, don't fight that stereotype, embrace it!

Really? Don't like cars? lol

Basically, I'd rather people wouldn't be surprised that we have good public transport and ATMs... Tongue

As someone who's done the return flight about 7 times.. it certainly feels like it.

For a fat man like me who has done it, it feels like 10 years.

But yes, none of those three are even close to how much I enjoyed David Attenborough's documentaries.

Cousteau, for the same reason that Yelnoc said Irwin.

Cousteau obviously, though I also grew up watching Perkins.  I also enjoyed The Life Aquatic, but apparently its not so popular.

I never watched this Irwin, as by then I no longer watched TV.

The Life Aquatic is a fine movie. Up there with Groundhog Day and Lost in Translation for serious or semi-serious Bill Murray films.

Jacque Cousteau, and I've been lucky enough to see his aquarium in Monaco.
I also grew up watching his movies.

Marlin Perkins definitely beats Steve Irwin since he had enough sense to let someone else do the dangerous buts.
