The blue and white is from the province of Pomerania flag, the red and yellow from the flags of the two Mecklnburgs, the cow also come from the coat of arms of both Mecklenburgs, while the griffon only exist on Mecklenburg-Schwerins coat of arms. The flag usual don't have the cow and griffon on it.

Looks more like a ram than a cow.

It appears, in my scholarly opinion, to be an angry dragon attacking a stoned cow. Based on the available evidence, I'd say that the cow, in its moment of compromised mental coherency, insulted the dragon's mother. No idea why anyone would make that into a flag, though.

I'm opposed to the Kaiser's authoritarian regime, so I vote for option 2. Tongue

Actually, he was not too authoritarian, by the standards of the day.

Cool songs, cool uniforms, cool mustaches.  Smiley

As I posted in that Greece thread, tricolors are boring, so I prefer these 1948 proposals for a West German flag:

There are twelve possible German Nordic cross flags one could come up with if you use either of the two Germanic color combos.  However, four are no good because a black field is too dark.  Similarly, a red field with a black cross won't work, as no matter if it was with a gold or a white fimbrulation, at a distance it would look too much like the flag of Norway, and ideally flags should be distinctive.

Germany really should have forgone any flag at all after the war.  I dislike flags.
