I am not going to get into a debate on this as it maks me truly angry... it does not mean to them what it does to others, but they have stopped using it to avoid offnding, and the fact that anyone is condeming them for this is ridiculous

I know the Marine Corps is conservative...but I just didn't know they were this conservative. Ok..Ok...its probably an honest mistake, but we hold these guys to a really high level. They're a professional security force in the top 5% of the world and we need to make sure that they represent our nation in the way we want to be represented.

Any unit in the military sporting SS insignia would be the saem as having the flag of Imperial Japan or a logo for Al Qaeda- any soldier, sailor, Marine, or airman who talks Nazi or racist ideas would be discplined

The colors are wrong for the SS.  Traditionally the color for the SS background is black; this one is blue.

So it is either coincidence or they are saying, "I'm a Nazi that went to Penn State."

Probably the same amount that you wanna bet that they guys making sensation out of this know precisely that they are taking the symbolism out of context.  Even the newsarticle reads, "Marine sniper team in Afghanistan posed for a photograph in front of a flag with symbols representing Adolph Hitler's notorious SS unit"

Um, no.  It represents a team of marines.  And, like you intimated, these marines may or may not even know what the Schutzstaffel is.  However, they probably have listened to KISS albums.
