(Source: Daily Telegraph) Syria's state-run news agency says President Bashar al-Assad has set Feb 26 for a national referendum on the country's new draft constitution.

Now, the question is, is this just an excuse to hold a vote that large chunks of the country will ignore and therefore those who support the President will say YES 100% NO 0% or is it a genuine movement to try and engage dialogue? My feelings are it is probably the former for one simple reason, who's ever heard of an 11 day national referendum campaign?
