Man... just read through all of this in one go last night... I had to remind myself the world hadn't gone to hell when I stopped...

Shocking, though I kinda saw it coming.

Nukes eh?

Minor prediction - New York gets the worst of it, maybe to the point where they fold.  California does "all right".

Well, I think the AFA is going to be hit hard, and set way way back, but not be wiped out.  The USA will be less damaged, and gain the upper hand for a few months as a result.  California will have some breathing room while those two fight.  Who California will face I'm not sure though.

Yeah, I've been wondering about Canada as well.

Anywho, I don't think Landrieu will hold up much longer.  I give him 6-8 months tops.

I have to admit, the cognitive disconnect going on is reaching critical mass.  More fun that way though Wink

Nice, less of a fight than I expected, but that's not a bad thing.

Heh, a nice pause there before the resumption of hostilities.  Didn't see Dakota coming, but ironically enough I'd been musing about those two lately and alternate ways they could have formed.

Well yes, I remember, but I didn't see it as foreshadowing at the time Tongue

There may be a stiffening of resistance, but I can't see a major counterattack getting much ground now...

Very nice.  If this style keeps up, I think it'll be perfect for the convention.  It'll be interesting to see who's still around, or mention of who didn't make it through...

Sometimes in alternate history the articles of confederation form the First Republic and the constitution is the Second Republic, ala the French naming system.  This could be the Third Republic.

Very interesting write-up.  As I said before, like the style, still holding true.  Dunno what I'd personally favor... maybe going towards a more British system, but I'm traditionally in favor of a strong president... in this scenario I'm not so sure anymore...
