I wonder how early the Washington GOP will have to stop the caucus this year?

Called it. Moving WA + OR into Santorum column. This is very bad news for Romney. He needs WA + OR, now that MI and AZ are swinging away from him.

Oh, and congrats Phil!

How the hell is Rick winning in WA? You would think that would be an ideal place for Romney.

I would have thought Ron Paul would be doing much better in WA than either one of them.

What is with this misconception that Seattle's suburbs are filled with moderate Republicans? They're filled with moderate swing voters who nearly always vote for Democrats and who would never dream of participating in a GOP primary much less caucus for a candidate (McCain was an exception to this rule but that was 12 years ago).

You know north Idaho's GOP that isn't influenced by Mormons and loves to invent conspiracy theories and says nasty things on a daily basis? That's how eastern Washington is politically. Romney would be lucky to beat Paul east of the Cascades.

One of the biggest misconceptions on this forum is that the Washington GOP is dominated by moderate suburban Republicans, while in reality it's actually really, really right-wing.

Yeah, Pat Robertson won the WA GOP caucus. Santorum can definitely win here.

The GOP in the west, really, is very conservative. Over there, states don't swing because candidates appeal to independents, they swing because more Democrats are voting than Republican.

Eh, that isn't really true either. There is definitely a defined centrist group of voters that determines elections; they just happen to nearly always vote for Democrats but they will consider voting for a Reichert or a McKenna or maybe even a Rossi.

PPP will be releasing this poll Tuesday, and says the final results can be expected to be good for Santorum

Tweet from PPP:

"In Washington state Santorum's favorability is 69/18, Romney's is 47/42. Similar to the divides we saw in Minnesota and Missouri"

Uh, oh...

It seems like not even the Washington  GOP can save Mittens.

Well Reichert's district has been notably Republican, but he's been close. That group of yours is small, and really we can just call them Democrats, certainly, in Presidential terms.

The Washington Republican party regrets to inform you that this year's episode of the Washington Republican Presidential Caucus has been postponed indefinitely due to technical difficulties.

This one could well end up like Minnesota.

Either that or it will end up like Maine.

I think the final results will be very similar to Minnesota: Santorum in a clear first in the 40s, Paul with a solid second at around 30% of the vote, and Romney in third.

I think I'm in the wrong party. I like Rick and I think he's a nice guy, but his views are just way too out there for only 18% of the GOP to disapprove of them.

I don't hate him as a person, but the only candidate in the GOP field I genuinely hate is Newt. I just think Santorum's views are way, way out of the mainstream much like I felt about Huckabee. Huckabee came across as likable and genuine, but he was just insane when it came to most of his policy planks.
