I don't think it's been a battleground state since the days of big hair and parachute pants. I don't even know why they're polling it so much.

I'm no expert, but I don't remember parachute pants being big in 2004.

I knew Kerry would win it then, just like how I knew Gore would win it in 2000.

I know Wisconsin-type folks, and I know how they vote.

Outside of some suburban/exurban places like Waukesha, WI either leans Democratic or is very solidly Democratic, or has voters to the left of the Democratic Party ie Madison.

Bush did win four out of eight congressional districts in 2004.

So within 2 days we have a poll showing Obama leading Romney by 15 points in Wisconsin while trailing him by 6 points in Iowa. It's impossible that Wisconsin and Iowa could have a 21 point gap. One or both polls must be wrong.

My feeling is that they are likely both wrong, the Iowa one somewhat more so.

Is Wisconsin now more Democratic than Minnesota?  Polls for 2012 and the 2008 results would say "yes".  I would love to visit those 60%+ Obama counties in the north and west of the state and see what it's like up there.  You look at pictures of the area and you wouldn't think it's a Democratic stronghold.

You can't tell how a place votes just by pictures. Granted, the GOP wins most rural areas and the Dems win most cities, but there are plenty of locations that don't follow this pattern.
