Now why would they be voting against their own interests like that? Wink

Probably because the majority of women in the Republican party are socially conservative enough to feel that their interests are secondary.

Yeah, women often vote for the party of JFK, Gary Hart, Bill Clinton, Eliot Spitzer, John Edwards, Anthony Wiener...

But I thought Romney's shocking good looks would secure their votes for him!

Not shocking. Women voted for Gingrich in SC too. I mean, the GOP is welcome to nominate Rick, but he has no shot at all in the general. Romney might not either at this point, but if Rick is the nominee the election is over after the convention.

Undoubtedly there are some women who believe that birth control is wrong, and those would likely be in the Republican party as conservatives

Republican women voting against their interests is news?

That's tame in comparison to the poor and working class voting against their interests.

Winning females in the GOP primaries/caucuses is a completely different animal from winning females in the general election. Santorum should know considering him and George McGovern are the only US Senators to ever lose re-election by almost twenty points.
