I would read this if you put more asterisks and capital letters in the title.

Sadly such non-serious threats are common on both sides of many issues. Pretty much the same recent happened to an atheist girl who sued to have a prayer banner in her public school taken down, except the threats were from the Christian side.

It's a fairly common tactic in politics, on either side of just about any issue, to have a child espouse your position in the hopes of attracting death threats.  Unfortunately, people continue to take the bait.

^^^^This. I wouldn't be surprised if virtually every single current member of Congress has received a death threat of some kind.

At a local highschool (my friend goes to it, actually) two girls went on youtube with a racist rant directed towards Black students. Needless to say, police now patrol the school.

This isn't 'how liberals are', CaDan. It's how people are.

Now, now, my man, the girl clearly states her name at the beginning of her youtube video.

That poor girl.  Not only has she been brainwashed, but she's being used as a sacrificial lamb by the bigot brigade.

It happens on both sides, and it's always wrong and sad when either side resorts to stuff like this.

I found this the other day. It seemed appropriate.

What the f[Inks] is "God-Ordained Marriage"?  Is that what the bible thumpers are calling their "only-we-can-use-and-abuse-it-and-you-can't-have-it-at-all" deal these days?

I brought that up awhile back pointing out how vile Michele Bachmann's district was and everyone started making excuses for it. But yeah that article is vile. What's amazing is I can't imagine that type of stuff happening at my high school in North Dakota of all places.

There's a certain tipping point at which life is just too staid and low-key for anybody to bother much caring, I think. North Dakota from what I know of it would seem to fall right into that.

Someone like krazen would also be really really out of the mainstream in North Dakota too on education issues. You can probably chalk it up to the state's homogenousity or whatever, but that's part of the reason I was shocked to see the extreme hostility toward the public education system by some people, even in my conservative hometown that stuff never came up. Gay marriage is probably more popular than krazen's views on teachers and the education system.

Eyeballing North Dakota as a state I'd guess that support for gay marriage is probably somewhere around a third or slightly more than a third, gay marriage plus civil unions somewhere in the very high thirties or low-to-mid forties (I might be lowballing that; you obviously know more about North Dakota than I do, since you're from there). Demonization of schoolteachers, as a proposition, would be very lucky to get even that sort of support anywhere other than krazen's brand of 'fiscally conservative' resentment-politics suburbia.

I don't think so.  (Compare to Utah).

The sooner America can shed religious fundamentalist attitudes, the better off we'll all be as a society.

That was enough time ago that I don't think assuming a 7-10 point swing in attitudes is unreasonable. Remember that in 2004 gay marriage nationwide was polling for the most part well under forty per cent.

That's the way Joe typed it. It wasn't edited by Inks or anyone else.
