If Obama is too liberal what is Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren ideology? Maoist I'm guessing according to these American idiots.

In other news, a large part of the population of the US knows nothing about politics.

So because they disagree with you that automatically makes them ignorant?

Certainly a large part of the US population is rather unaware when it comes to politics, but what does that have to do with this poll?

This graph really needs to be posted.  Even if you shift the center five points right to account for America's extreme conservatism, every candidate running is still right-wing.

Pretty much this.

Obama is at best a moderate Democrat.

I know it is slanted left-libertarian in relation to American politics.  What I wanted to point out was how closely Obama, Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich are grouped together.

Eh...how can people be wrong in thinking a politician is too far to one side? It's not as if your subjective valuation of his stance is anymore valid.

Can't be easy governing a nation where 40% if not more are "conservative" meaning a Democrat has to steer close to the center

Also, Obama kind of shifted to the right after becoming president.

Clearly in 2008, Obama/Biden were closer my 'left-leaning' Christian Democratic core

The Political Compass charts are ridiculous - take it in character as anyone they depict and you'll find a vastly different placement.  IIRC they had New Labour to the right of Reagan.

Yeah, that chart seems bad. Obama is a centrist, not a right-wing extremist.

Also, Obama kind of shifted to the right after becoming president.

He had to 'compromise' on extending the fiscally reckless Bush tax cuts in their entirety to ensure the extension of unemployment compensation such is the dogmatic unflexible nature of the contemporary GOP. Then there's national security but that, if anything, aligned him closer to me

40 percent of Americans think Bill O'Reilly is too liberal.  They are the hardcore conservatives who went strong disapprove when Obama sneezed during inauguration.  The 10 percent on top of that are swingy and generally uninformed.

Whether or not he is too liberal or not is immaterial.  If half the country thinks he is, then he could be in trouble this fall whether or not he actually is liberal or conservative or centrist.  Remember, the uninformed still vote and they, unfortunately, make up a good-size majority of the voting population.  Political junkies like us are really in the minority.

I don't know how PC got that result... I did the test "in character" as BO and ended up with Economic Left/Right: -3.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.03

I erred a little to the left on economics, but even so I can't see him hold any more then 0. And it's entirely laughable to think he's above the line socially.

what's wrong with that?  New Labour was but a continuation of Reaganism.   plus 15 years of momentum on the wrecking ball.

don't call it a joke, it gets the point across.  this is the stuff I hate.  the counter-establishment stuff getting criticized for being unrealistic or embarrassing or etc.  give me a break.  which side are you on?  just a few days ago EMD called the Occupy movement embarrassing.  embarrassing?  again, which team do you want to play for in life?
