The telephone poll of 470 likely Republican voters showed 18. 9 percent would vote for Gingrich, 18.3 percent for Santorum and 15.2 percent for Mitt Romney. A total of 19.5 percent said they would vote for “some other candidate,” while 28 percent said they were undecided. The poll, conducted weekly in February, was completed on Thursday and the margin of error was 5 percent.
Santorum's rise marked a major swing since Feb. 2, when ASU’s initial polling showed him with just 8.7 percent, compared to Gingrich at 27 percent and Romney at 16.3 percent.
The poll did not ask voters whether they supported Ron Paul, the Texas congressman seeking the GOP nomination. But Vocino said the latest round of polling, conducted on Thursday, showed Paul at 4 percent.
