I wonder if there could be a "reverse 9/11 effect" this year in NY (or also in NJ and CT) ?

In 2000 Gore won big in these 3 states, but after 9/11 there was a trend away to the GOP in these 3 states (especially in 2004, but also in 2008).

Maybe with Bin Laden dead, NY returns to about 65% DEM like in 2000 and NJ and CT back to about 60-65 too.

If Obama indeed hits 65% then it could have serious repercussions downballot.

The poll actually shows Obama underperforming in NYC while improving his margins everywhere else.  Hmmmmmm

Eh, maybe. But in 2010, Cuomo, Schumer and Gillibrand all won in huge landslides and we still lost like 5 house seats.

Cuomo's approval! I wonder what he'd get in NY if he was running for President.

he's governing as a radical neoliberal, like Blair or Clinton on steroids.  at war with the faithfully center-left Attorney General.  I don't see what there is to cheer about.

2010 was a huge Republican year and Cuomo, Schumer, and Gillibrand all had sacrificial lambs running against them.  There was no real campaign.

If Obama is getting 65% in New York, id be willing to bet that NY-13, NY-19, NY-20, and NY-25 all go Democratic.

Similarly I don't understand all the love for Cuomo around here. (Speaking of Atlas, obviously.)

The Dems are going to have to shoot higher than Cuomo in 2016 if they want 16 years of Presidency. Who? I don't know.  Cuomo gives me a Democratic Newt Gingrich vibe.

I do kind of want to see Cuomo v. Christie 2016 purely because it would be an entertaining blood sport. I don't think there'd be a chance in hell of me voting for either of them.

Cuomo is good. I'd trade Malloy for him in a heartbeat. Cuomo is a Winner. He is also Italian, and that would be a nice barrier to break.

Why do some on the left dislike Cuomo so much? I don't know much about him other than gay marriage so I'm curious.

Apart from signing Gay Marrage he Is seen to govern more as a centist than as a Progressive/Liberal.

he's balanced (or not even balanced, I guess) the budget through attacking unions and education while capping property taxes and refusing any serious effort to make the income tax system more progressive.  probably the most important and vicious attack on the public sector of any (D) governor.  that said he is a very good politician w/ a bright future.  he's made the capitalists and right-wing very happy with all of this while being able to trumpet the gay marriage thing to attract malinformed and misguided leftish activists.

So he is basically another Clinton, just on different issues.
