Once confirmed, what will be the top priority of the Justice Dept, with you at its helm?

Well Yankee, I'm not quite sure considering that we haven't had an AG for a long while, and really no place to pick off from.

I'll probably focus on preventing the overlap of federal and regional powers, since that has been a problem from time to time.  (I guess?)

Fuzzy- to what extent would you get involved in regional or municipal policies- (I am thinking of Holder investigating NYPD and striking down the Texas voter ID law)...

I would only investigate such things if we had pretty solid proof that lower ranking agencies were constantly abusing and misusing their powers, especially if such conduct decimated the civil liberties of our citizens.  The latest news out of New York City is very troubling, and I intend to do everything in my power to insure that the city government does what's right and treat those in the Muslim community as citizens and not suspects.  People cannot trust the government if the government does not trust its people.

Based upon what I know about what NYPD has been doing in NYC with the Muslim community- I believe it falls cleary within their jurisdiction and that actions such as those can save lives and that they have reason to be surveilling the mosques they chose... therefore I disagree with you answer. This combined with your first answr which I was surprised to see you unable to name a top priority for a critical post leads me to oppose your nomination.

You seem to be well respected and I am confident you will be confirmed- I look forward to working with you if you do but at this time I will be voting

Nay

I disagree with some of your assesment, but I fully respect your decision.  Cheers!

Is there any particular regional legislation that you've noticed that might merit a lawsuit as Attorney General? Not naming any names *cough*the South*cough*. Wink

Oh, don't get me started.  Tongue  lol
