Old-school Northern Republican that people supposedly have mistaken for black for reasons I do not understand at all. Reminds me a lot of Everett Dirksen or Gerald Ford.

I get the impression that he postures himself as more to the right than he really is.
My fundamental political views are conservative, but I am also pragmatic and believe in compromise where necessary, just as long as our values aren't sacrificed in the process.

My quote was actually directed at him and not you, Oldies. Sorry for the confusion.

I actually thought it was directed toward Oldies as well. That is certainly not...a impression I have heard others voice before. If anything, I have heard mostly the opposite. I am curious as to how you came to that impression.

I don't know you all that well and that was just the impression I judged from a couple of your postings. I think sometimes you might want to seem a bit further right than you are.

Old-school libertarian socialist, would probably vote for Stein in this year's presidential election.

A seemingly standard conservative. An Australian, no less.

Georgia Republican; thoughtful and agreeable, but I don't think anybody would call him a moderate. Has recently expressed a fondness for or interest in Canadian politics.

Impressive, fundamentally conservative rural leftist with an intimidating level of theological knowledge. Probably politically closer to Al than anyone else on the forum.

Irish social democrat. Very affable and astute, but fights back with a vengeance against the forum's coterie of trolls and doctrinaires.

Certainly the best mapmaker on the whole forum, who creates the best maps from basically any country - though I am thankful he hasn't made any South African maps to make my South African maps look like crap Wink

His politics are sensible, but that doesn't matter much. This forum would suck if he wasn't around.

A highly intelligent politics and history nerd (and I mean that in the nicest way) who has excellent map making skills and is highly informative about history and politics of the countries he occasionally gets obsessed about (What's after South Africa Hash?)

One of the best posters on the forum, and I don't just say that out of some misplaced national pride - something I'd imagine both Gully and I lack in spades. With him in the Netherlands and Jas in Malawi I think I should probably flee the country, too, to complete the set.

Barry Goldwater never died, he was kidnapped by the KGB and escaped and now posts on Atlas Forum under the name Goldwater. It's the old hide-somewhere-so-obvious-nobody-would-ever-think-of-it trick.

A transsexual (?) girl (?) who is a very nice and articulate poster. From what I've seen, we seem to agree on basically everything. Smiley

An Italian-French poster currently studying abroad in San Francisco who mounts a full-throated, articulate, and unapologetic case for good old liberal social democracy. He and I agree on most issues, but we have different attitudes towards religion and often arrive at the same or similar positions from different premises.

ETA: Spamage: A level-headed and likable, seemingly moderately conservative Republican poster from Oregon. Possibly with libertarian leanings?--I don't know him that well.

A conservative Republican, though moderate in the Mideast Legislature, who has some serious issues with history. But, he's still lovable, like you zany uncle.

From what I've heard, she's changed her political views like 3,000 times, though most of that before I was here. Last time I saw her, she had an Israeli flag above her avatar, now a Palestinian one Tongue
