I thought I could type up a detailed list of where I stand on every issue and my proposals, but then I thought a better idea would be to discuss it with the people here in a town hall-ish event. The floor is open for anyone and everyone to ask whatever they like. Smiley

If elected, would you provide assistance to the Northeast and Mideast regions in expanding the St. Lawrence Seaway?

PiT: Yes, I will promote a fair environment where the rights of business are respected. I will also refuse to be a slave to mega corporations who would want to influence  policy. In short I am for a sane pro-growth business environment that will not allow corporate welfare from the government.

SJoyce: I will have to go back a check to see if it has changed much since the last I read it, but I will say I stand opposed to authorizing military force against a country that has not attacked us.

Scott: If the NE and ME feel they need assistance, I see no reason why to deny it. The St. Lawrence Seaway is vital to the economies of the land surrounding it.

What would your response be if Iran launched a successful, large-scale nuclear attack against Israel?

And I'll provide the more likely scenario: what would your response be if Israel launched a military attack against Iran?

Well given that neither of your two scenarios involve Atlasia I would allow the U.N. to take point as far as any possible police action goes. If Atlasian citizens were to be attacked that would be another matter all together and would warrant a counter strike.

I feel we cannot make the mistake of letting our fears and emotions blind us to reality. We cannot just say "Iran may use weapons at some point, thus we must attack." We need to start with the question of "Why did they want  nuclear weapons?" Is it to attack Israel? I feel the truth lies in history. Iran is like China, they both have of being historically great empires that in the 19th century were gang-raped by the west. They also have better memories than we westerners seem to. For us we can remember back as far as 1979 when angry students took over and established the current country, but we miss is the fact that the government they over threw was imposed on them by a western backed coup.

I believe that Iran, like China, wants to be a military power, wants the bomb, wants the world to look at them, for one reason. They do not want to ever have to go through the humiliation of the 19th and early 20th centuries ever again. For that reason I am not going to about them as much as I will about people over reacting to them and taking things to unnecessary levels.

Alfred,

I may be libertarian, but I am not an anarchist. I do feel there is place for environmental regulations. I may like the free market, but I will not kid myself in believing the free market cares about the planet and protecting animals from extenction in the short-term. I believe in laws against false advertising, and food safety regulation. etc.

Speaker Jbrase

1.  Do you have a national job creation strategy?

2.  Do you favor stimulus spending to create jobs and inject money into the economy in tough economic times?

1.  Do you have a national job creation strategy?

2.  Do you favor stimulus spending to create jobs and inject money into the economy in tough economic times?

My thoughts are best summed up in this:

The place you should study isn’t the bust
It’s the boom that should make you feel leery, that’s the thrust
Of my theory, the capital structure is key.
Malinvestments wreck the economy

The boom gets started with an expansion of credit
The Fed sets rates low, are you starting to get it?
That new money is confused for real loanable funds
But it’s just inflation that’s driving the ones

Who invest in new projects like housing construction
The boom plants the seeds for its future destruction
The savings aren’t real, consumption’s up too
And the grasping for resources reveals there’s too few

So the boom turns to bust as the interest rates rise
With the costs of production, price signals were lies
The boom was a binge that’s a matter of fact
Now its devalued capital that makes up the slack.

Whether it’s the late twenties or two thousand and five
Booming bad investments, seems like they’d thrive
You must save to invest, don’t use the printing press
Or a bust will surely follow, an economy depressed

Your so-called “stimulus” will make things even worse
It’s just more of the same, more incentives perversed
And that credit crunch ain’t a liquidity trap
Just a broke banking system, I’m done, that’s a wrap.

JBrase, as president what would you do to further the cause of evil in Atlasia?

Also, do you feel that Pingvin deserves retribution most terrible for usurping my position as IDS Judicial Overlord?

How should we balance liberty and security and protect civil liberties in general?

What's your stance on outsourcing?

Foreign aid?

Separation of church and state?

Education?

Free trade/tariffs?

Marriage (in light of the Marriage Revenge Initiative)?

The proper size of government?

Abortion?

Government funding of museums, theaters, etc?

Universal healthcare?

Censorship?

What's your proposed tax plan?

The minimum wage?

Our drug policy?

Affirmative action?

Regulation?

The death penalty?

Immigration?

Union rights?

Prostitution?

Flag burning?

Physician-assisted suicide?

Oh dear lord, SJoyce, you want me to answer all of that? Tongue

here goes

1. Look to the non-aggression principle in policing.
2. We can stop it by creating a competitive business environment.
3. Food/medical aid is fine. No military aid to dictators.
4. The faith of members of government is their own business, but should stay out of law.
5. Help fund universities, but we seriously need to look on reforming high school level education.
6. I support free trade, though I would not oppose regulation of materials from foreign countries that could pose health risks.
7. I feel the government should not be involved in marriage one way or another, but statists will not let that happen, so until it does I support total equality.
8. I do not see it as an inherent evil, and it can help people, but I do not support nanny-statism.
9. Pro-life, except for life of mother being at stake.
10. Limited but not really its proper role.
11. Genuinely undecided.
12. Censorship is wrong and an attack on free speech.
13. I will release a more detailed tax plan with my running mate after I announce him.
14. I will oppose increases in it for those under 21.
15. Atlasia has a sane drug policy so no complaints.
16. Affirmative action hurts the equality movement.
17. See my previous post on regulations.
18. I oppose the death penalty, as I am pro-life.
19. A good thing.
20. I like unions, but I will not tolerate when they get rediculous and try and hold local and regional government hostage. I have no beef with private unions but public employee unions, teacher unions in general hold too much power.
21. Is this an issue lol? I oppose banning it.
22. should be left to the regions, but I will not oppose it.
