An interesting topic I was just discussing with my brother. What country borders have you come within 10 miles of, on land? (Crossing it counts, obviously). It doesn't count if you're on a plane. To my surprise, I've only actually been to three such boundaries:

US-Canada
France-Netherlands (on St. Martin)
Costa Rica-Nicaragua

What about you?

I've been to the U.S.-Canada border at both the International Peace Gardens in North Dakota and at Niagara Falls.

But the most interesting border I've been to was in Basel, Switzerland.  I have a picture I took of it hanging on my apartment wall.  It's a misty January day, I'm standing in the back of the Erasmus Church, that is, standing in Switzerland, looking out over the Rhine River, and on the left edge of the Rhine was France, and on the right edge was Germany.  I really love that spot, even though I was only there once.

Just the US-Canadian and US-Mexican borders...only crossed the Canadian one (and that was many many moons ago).

Ooh this could be fun...

I've approached US-Canada and Austria-Slovenia and crossed...
Austria-Italy
Italy-Vatican
Austria-Hungary
Austria-Slovakia
Austria-Czech Republic
Austria-Germany
Germany-Netherlands
Netherlands-Belgium
Sweden-Norway
Ireland-UK

I think that's it

Crossed:

US-Canada (in Quebec, going into NY and VT and vice-versa; in Ontario, going into NY and vice-versa)
Germany-France (Saarland into Lorraine? and vice-versa)
Germany-Austria (Bavaria going into Tyrol and Salzburg and vice-versa)
France-Italy (PACA-Liguria)
France-Monaco
Saudi Arabia-Bahrain (technically, a bridge)
Saudi Arabia-Qatar
Cyprus-UK (Akrotiri)

Came close to:

UAE-Oman
Cyprus-TRNC (the Green Line in Nicosia and Mt. Olympus in the Troodos Mountains)
Jordan-Israel

If you really wanted to, I guess you could count "crossing" into an embassy as crossing a border, in which case I would have crossed into UK territory (in Riyadh).

Siam-Lao many times.. a few times to Cambodia.  Years ago to some Euro borders while traveling on bus or train.  Seemed like hardly borders at all.

Crossed:

DK-Sweden
Norway-Sweden
DK-Germany
Germany-Poland
Poland-Czech Republic
Germany-Czech Republic
Hungary-Austria
Austria-Germany
Romania-Hungary
Hungary-Serbia
Serbia-Bulgaria
Bulgaria-Romania
Germany-France
France-Spain
Ireland-UK (Derry in Northern Ireland)

So many borders to cross in Europe...

Thailand-Myanmar
Thailand-Laos (in the north)
Laos-Thailand (Int. Friendship Bridge)
Gambia-Senegal
Canada-USA (BC-Washington)

Many of the countries I have visited don't have a land border: Australia, NZ, Vanuatu, Cuba,
Iceland. I like island nations.

Canada - USA, many times (crossed at Ft Erie/Buffalo, Ivy Lea bridge, QC-VT and ME-NB). I have been within 10 miles of the border in Sault Ste. Marie as well, and I crossed through US waters on the Vancouver-Victoria ferry.

Also, I live within 10 miles of the Canada-Quebec border Wink

Canada and Quebec are synonyms. You live within ten miles of the Upper Canada - Canada border.

Driven Texas FM 170, which runs right along the Rio Grande in places. That's it, unfortunately.

Too lazy to count.

I think I crossed Germany/Luxembourg by foot though.

One time I also went into Poland for a pizza.
