Romney thanks to the Baltimore and DC suburbs but I'm wondering if this is really the bastion of moderate Republicans that people make it out to be.

2008 results here:

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#val=MD

McCain won 55-29 over Huckabee, who was the only other candidate still standing. Huckabee did come close-ish in western MD, which should be similar to the parts of PA where Santorum is most popular. But most of the votes come from elsewhere.

It is not. Romney will win. But it will be closer then most will think.

Shouldn't Santorum do well on Eastern Shore too? From the map I can tell that if he runs up the score there and at the Appalachia then he can keep this close.

Probably, but there are still a lot of Dixiecrats there who can't cross over to vote in the Republican primary.

In 2008, the most populous counties on the Eastern Shore voted more strongly for McCain over Huckabee than the state as a whole. So I doubt it'll be a good region for Santorum.

Some of them did. But remember that McCain was a respected war hero who had no problem to connect with these kind of voters, not a country club millionaire flip floper from Massachusetts.

This.  And McCain slightly overperformed due to his Navy connections.

Romney will sniff 50%, though.

Also, Given how poorly Romney does with people who make less then 50,000 a year I don't know if he'll do to well on the Eastern Shore or Western Maryland.

He won't do well at all, particularly in farm country.  Romney will kill in the I-95 corridor, and Santorum probably does well in the Eastern Shore and especially western MD.  Newt probably does best on the Eastern Shore.

Guessing:

Western MD: Santorum, Romney, Gingrich/Paul
Eastern Shore: Santorum, Gingrich, Romney, Paul
Southern MD: Santorum/Romney, Gingrich, Paul
I-95/Central: Romney, Santorum, Paul, Gingrich

Overall: Romney..........Santorum, Gingrich, Paul
