Who in your opinion is the least charismatic potential 2016 presidential candidate?

I would say that on the Democratic side, Martin O'Malley and Andrew Cuomo would be the least charismatic. They're just boring and have the excitement potential of cardboard.

On the Republican side, Mitch Daniels seems to be the most boring, but if Tim Pawlenty decided to try again in 2016, he'd be even more blah.

So who lacks charisma in your opinions?

O'Malley... easily.

of course, the least charismatic and most incompetent would be a fighting match between O'Malley and Pawlenty, but I think Pawlenty's awful stand-up routine has some charm to it, so he has more charisma than O'Malley.

He's not one of the most talked about possibilities, but Sam Brownback.

Scott Walker or Rand Paul could be contenders on the GOP side. Also, someone like Mike Pence, who used to get a lot of love on these boards earlier. I don't see how anyone finds him charismatic at all.

Martin O'Malley for the Democrats and Tim Pawlenty for the Republicans.

Tim Pawlenty is boring, but he does have a certain warmness about him. He's the prototypical Midwesterner who doesn't get any of the jokes on Comedy Central but will help you shovel the snow off your driveway and put the chains on your tires for you.

Scott Walker reminds me of Agnew. I don't know why, he just does. There's this slithery, unseemly quality about him that just gives me the creeps.

None of the Democratic shortlisters are people I'd expect to get an arena of people fired up. They lost most of their charisma when the populist Clinton/Edwards wing of the party atrophied away.

Pawlenty isn't running in 2016.  If he'd done better in 2012, or if he'd been picked as Romney's running mate, then there's a good chance he'd run again.  But that didn't happen, so I'm pretty sure he's done.  He's becoming a lobbyist for big banks:

Not exactly the kind of career move made by someone who's seriously contemplating a run for national office in just a couple of years.
