I'm sure Graham would have helped Gore get 537 more votes in Florida.

It is true, there could hardly have been a worse choice than Leiberman.  A pointless DINO who is personally unappealing.

No doubting that having Graham on the ticket would have tipped Florida their way.  But personally I would have preferred the other senator, Bill Nelson, on the ticket instead.  Plus, he'd stand in good stead for the 2008 nomination if he was the current VP.

There is no doubt about that. Graham polled very well in his Senate races

Gore would have won, I think. Graham would have won Florida for him, and I don't see any states that Gore won with Lieberman that he would have lost with Graham.

The choice of Lieberman was an attempt to distance himself from the Lewinsky scandal, since Lieberman was the foremost Democratic critic of Clinton's actions in the Senate. I don't think Gore was really helped much in that area, however.

That was a dumb move, as anyone who would care about a BJ in the White House is going to vote Republican anyway.

Graham would have given Gore Florida by 54-55%. Nelson would have kept it close.

You stole my idea! ;-)

And I voted "Gore/Graham", of course.

That would make FL the 2nd most Democratic state in 2000.

No it wouldn't have.

Anyway, I'm just glad Al Gore didn't pick Bob Graham.

Read what he said. It said, "given Gore Florida by 54-55%" That means Gore wins by over 50% there.

Yeah, but Gore won by over 60% in New York and Rhode Island, so how it could possibly be the second most Democratic State?

Gore only won NY by 25%.

Oh, now I see what you're thinking. I think he means 55% of the vote would have been for Gore.

Anyway, it still wouldn't be the second most Democratic State. It would be the most.

I figured that, I'm just in a pointing out typos mood. And DC went for Gore by more than 55%. 89-9.

Yes, and so did NYC. Neither one of them is a State.

DC has separate EV's. For purposes of elections, it's a state.

It is, for purposes of elections, treated like a State. It is not, for purposes of elections, or purposes of anything else, a State.

Um...it is or it isn't treated for purposes of elections like a state?

Anyway, stop splitting hairs.  I think that as DC is worth 3 EVs in the election, which Gore won, then Akno21's point stands.

It doesn't matter anyway, we were talking about Florida.

I should get the "Goes Off Track" award.

He did well with the Cuban vote when he last ran for re-election in 1998.

Okay, but why is he popular (among them or anyone else)? Isn't he just a typical Democrat?
