Wow.

Olbermann was fired today from Current TV just 14 months after leaving MSNBC.

"Keith Olbermann has been fired by Current TV, the network announced Friday. He will be replaced by former New York governor and CNN host Eliot Spitzer.

Olbermann had hosted "Countdown," which he brought from MSNBC after his exit there, since June. His short tenure began with fanfare, but ended, as many of Olbermann's previous jobs have, with deep acrimony on both sides."

Olbermann was the worst of the MSNBC lineup (with Maddow being the best, Chris Hayes being a pretty good substitute for Maddow, and with O'Donnell and Ed Shultz being almost as terrible as Olbermann). He makes liberal pundits look bad. I'm just happy that Maddow is uber-professional and makes liberal pundits look good.

Maddow and Matthews were the best of the MSNC lineup, IMO. I think Cenk Uygur did a good job on MSNBC too.

I'm not one to call for someone to lose their job, but I can't say that I'm not privately pleased with this. I'm not a fan of Olbermann at all.

But, I hope he eventually finds a job. Just not one that deals with politics...

Chris Matthews, and Bill Maher are much worse imho.

He doesn't seem to enjoy sharing the spotlight with others, which is a shame. He just sort of stopped developing as a TV host, if nothing else, after he left MSNBC. The most I feel like anyone can really say about this is "/shrug" at this point.

I checked his twitter to see if he's put out a blustering statement already and... yep.

How many networks do you have to get kicked off before you realize the problem isn't them?

Spitzer did an impeccable job at CNN with In the Arena, poor ratings notwithstanding. I expect it to be one of the best political TV programmes in the entire U.S., if anyone manages to find out how just where Current TV is on the TV.

Apparently, Olbermann and Current had a big disagreement over election coverage and technical difficulties in January; meaning there's been strained relations for a few months now.

The "disagreements" stemmed from Olbermann being much too selfish.

Perhaps he could moonlight as a WoW expert while between broadcasting jobs.

Matthews has a lot of knowledge, but he needs to shut up once in a while. I actually like O'Donnell, and Schultz is hit-or-miss. Sharpton is still not very good, but his show is much better than I expected. She's not on weeknights, but I LOVE MHP. To rank the weeknight hosts:

Maddow
O'Donnell
Schultz
Sharpton
Matthews

He's already got enough problems maintaining. He doesn't need anything extra in there messing with his head even worse.

Liberals just don't have the same need for Olbermann types as conservatives do. We're more likely to think for ourselves.

I'm sorry, but he's just obnoxious, and really shouldn't be on TV anymore.  That being said, I wish him the best, and hope he finds a job.
