What's LIF like?  I suppose I could see myself voting for it or FPO/BZO/"EU Exit."

What's LIF like?  I suppose I could see myself voting for it or FPO/BZO/"EU Exit."

According to the 2008 Election Wahlomat, the LIF wants:

* higher taxes on the wealthy
* full paternal leave if fathers stay at home for 1 month after the birth of their child
* abolishing the draft and establishing a professional army
* keep tuition fees abolished
* a basic income for Austrian citizens
* no referendums in Austria on issues about the EU
* Higher fees for the Electronic Toll Collection System for trucks to avoid lots of transit
* decriminalisation of soft drugs like Marihuana
* increase of social security payments for wealthy people
* opposes increased surveillance of public places
* opposes a general smoking ban in restaurants
* opposed boot camps for violent youth
* favors more development aid for poor countries
* opposes that kids born in Austria automatically get Austrian citizenship
* favors that all abortions in Austria are covered by health insurance
* favors that gay people in Austria can marry and adopt children

Likewise from my initial impression, though I voted SPÖ. If I were actually casting a ballot in the election I would read a lot more than I did here about the three parties you listed before voting.

Probably Greens, because SPÖVP is too rightist to my taste, I couldn't vote for them.

LIF is classical liberal/libertarian? Looks to the left of our main three. Cheesy

SPO/Greens/KPO are the options; I can't see any obvious option so I'd probably spend the election cycle deciding.

One of Greens, LIF or Pirates. Probably LIF in terms of ideological proximity, likely Greenies out of pragmatism/strategic voting.

Because there are not a lot of Romney voters on this Forum.

Winfield, Politico, Redcommander. Some of them may have not voted here yet.

I would normally, but they deserve to be thrown out this time...IMO
