Is there going to be a Gingrich surge yet again since Santorum has dropped out? Espeically since the bulk of those not supporting Romney really don't like him since he's a Mormon, who doesn't constantly talk about the threat of Sharia Law, gays, "freedom", and Obama's "anti-American agenda"? While Gingrich speaks the language of the GOP base voter better then Romney?

Right now the rcp national pol average is Romney 40, Santorum 26, Paul 13, and Gingrich 11.

I'm guessing the first Post-Santorum national poll will look something like this:

Romney 55
Gingrich 20
Paul 15

If there is to be a Gingrich surge, maybe this:

Romney 45
Gingrich 30
Paul 15

He'll surge, but it won't be enough to give him wins.

I really can't think of any surge Gingrich can have. Santorum was the only chance of derailing Romney. Although I disagree a lot with Santorum on social issues, he was one of the few straight forward candidates we had.

At this point, I'm thinking about putting my support behind Gary Johnson... I certainly wont be voting for Romney.

While extremely unlikely beside a small bump, it would be hilarious.

Agreed. This would be, what, the third time Newt's candidacy has risen from the dead? (And just in time for Orthodox Easter!)

Surge for the 1000th time just to implode again?

I'd expect the standard anti-nominee vote, possibly a bit more since Romney is so disliked. Sort of like what McCain got against Huckabee after Romney dropped out in 2008.

He might get a couple of percent boost.

But it will be a transformational shift in the entire political structure as we know it, and in fact in the history of the human race, since Newt Gingrich is simply the most important person to ever exist or who will exist.

Gingrich's support has doubled from about 10% to 20%... so I guess that's a small surge.

Which means Gingrich will say he's had 100% increase in support, making him the inevitable nominee and everyone should vote for him because MOON BASE!

Gingrich winning Texas would be another funny embarrassment for Mittens.
